How does Polyco invest?

We strategically invest in three key project divisions to accelerate plastic packaging collection and recycling across South Africa. Through Large Infrastructure Projects, our flagship Packa-Ching programme, and Enterprise Development initiatives, we're building the capacity and infrastructure needed to meet legislated recycling targets while creating sustainable economic opportunities.

Project investments

Polyco invests in three different project divisions in order to grow the collection and recycling of plastic packaging
in South Africa to the extent that it meets the legislated targets.

Large
Infrastructure Projects.

Projects that increase plastic recycling in South Africa and increase innovation in the industry by expanding and/or modernising the companies’ production capacities. These companies are required to be established and to demonstrate their ability to secure feedstock as well as offtake for their product (recyclate).

Packa-Ching.

Our flagship collection programme, Packa-Ching, focuses on areas and communities in South Africa that are without waste management services and are not currently serviced with separation at source.
Polyco provides both loans and grants to local companies that are already operating in waste collection who are looking to expand their footprint and yield in their area of operation by taking on a Packa-Ching unit.

Enterprise Development Projects.

The focus of these projects is on growing the industry by investing in enterprise development projects, which aim to support smaller businesses and individuals entering the plastic recycling space.
In addition, our Enterprise development funding offers companies the chance to access training programmes.

Note that this funding is dependant on budget availability and Board Approval*
