Polyco is continuing to focus its funding support and resources in two key strategic areas, namely the implementation of infrastructure projects and innovation/end-use development projects. These form part of our core strategic pillars on which the continued growth of polyolefin recycling volumes is based.

Packa-Ching.

Packa-ching:
Minimum Level 4 BB-BEE registered enterprise preferred
Minimum 51% black-owned enterprise
Be an existing collector operating a medium size business (more than 100 te’s/month)
High level of business acumen/entrepreneurship demonstrated through business profitability
Have access to a secondary market buyer/s for materials collected
Sufficient low-income communities for servicing within a 50km radius from the geographic location of the business
Have network within communities
Operate from rented/owned business premises with electricity
Have necessary assets and equipment for efficient operations i.e. baling machinery, forklifts, trucks, cages, and storage space
Have relevant employee systems in place to ensure adherence to Labour Relations Act
Have access to technology systems to be able to supply Polyco with the required documentation to meet reporting/ funding requirements.
Ownership of 4 tonne truck
Packa-ching Lite:
100% black-owned registered enterprise.
Be an existing collector operating a small size business (from 20 te's/month).
Exceptions will be considered for rural areas with less capacity.
Have evidence of potential buyers.
Sustainable access to plastic packaging waste.
Focus on empowering small enterprises.
Have a network within communities.
A vehicle with a braked towing capacity equivalent to the identified Packa-Ching Lite option or evidence of hiring a vehicle
Must be able to supply Polyco with the required documentation to meet funding requirements.
Must be able to supply Polyco with the required documentation of Job creation to meet reporting/funding requirements.
Preferential Requirements:
Focus on previously disadvantaged, women, youth & people with disabilities.
Identified operations premises.
Clear demonstration of job creation.
Integration and upskilling of informal waste collectors.
Note: On approval, Polyco will assist the enterprises to register and obtain BBBEE certification

Large Infrastructure Projects.

Capital Funding:
Loan Type: Interest Free (or Grant)
Terms: 48 months
Capital for recycling equipment
Loan Amount: Amount starts at R500 000 - R10 million
Applicants: Recyclers and Collectors
Recycling incentive:
R100 per tonne / R0.10 per kilogram
Pelletised / Product sold
Applicants: Recyclers only
Additional requirements: CK1 | VAT No. | Tonnage Report (Sales) per polymer type

Enterprise Development Projects. (Applications closed for 2026)

Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be a registered, BBBEE-compliant SMME operating in the plastics recycling and collections sector.
- Operate within the collection or recycling of plastics (resins 1-7).
- Demonstrate impact on women, youth, and/or persons with disabilities in the waste sector.
Funding Criteria
Projects must:
- Collect or recycle 0-50 tonnes of plastics per month.
- Contribute to the growth and development of the plastics recycling sector.
- Support the creation of jobs within the plastics value chain.
- Be supported by a clear project plan with measurable outcomes, valid registration documents, and quotations for requested support.
- Show measurable outcomes in enterprise development, job creation, and transformation.
- Funding is subject to budget availability and Board approval.

Primary Schools Recycling Initiative. (Applications closed for 2026)

Basic Criteria for Participation
To be considered for future participation in the Primary Schools Recycling Initiative, schools should:
- Be a primary school (public or independent) interested in promoting recycling and environmental awareness.
- Have an active Eco Club or a teacher willing to start one.
- Be willing to investigate and identify collectors or offtakes operating in their area.
- Polyco may advise on areas where collectors are already part of its network.
- Provide a safe and accessible area on school grounds for recycling bins or bulk bags.
- Commit to participating in activation and awareness activities coordinated by Polyco.
- Be willing to record recycling volumes using Polyco’s approved recording mechanisms, such as WeighPay.
- Be willing to share photographic evidence of recycling activities and allow Polyco to use logos and images for communication purposes.
- Preference will be given to low-income or no-fee schools first.
